Trans Baviaans | THE RACE | 2026

The Trans Baviaans is a grueling 24-hour endurance mountain bike race that takes place in the remote and rugged Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. The race covers a distance of 230 kilometers (143 miles) and is divided into three stages, each with its own set of challenges and obstacles. The race starts in Willowmore and follows a route through some of the most scenic and challenging terrain in South Africa. Riders face steep climbs, rocky descents, river crossings, and technical singletrack as they make their way through the Baviaanskloof. The route is mostly off-road, with very little tarmac, and the terrain ranges from rocky outcrops to sandy riverbeds.
