Trans Baviaans 2026. 230km team MTB race from Willowmore to Jeffrey’s Bay through the Baviaanskloof.
The 2026 Trans Baviaans takes place from Saturday, 8 August to Sunday, 9 August 2026, starting in Willowmore, Eastern Cape. 🚴♂️🌄
Organised by EcoBound, this legendary mountain bike marathon is one of South Africa’s premier endurance cycling events, taking teams through the spectacular landscapes of the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area. The race combines distance, navigation, teamwork, night riding, and serious endurance into one unforgettable single-stage MTB challenge. 🌿
The event covers 230km from Willowmore to Jeffrey’s Bay and must be completed within 24 hours to qualify for a medal. Teams consist of 2, 3, or 4 riders, making teamwork, planning, pacing, and support essential throughout the race. 🔥
With an unmarked route, strategic checkpoints, a late 10h00 start, and compulsory night riding, Trans Baviaans is a true test of character for prepared mountain bikers looking for a serious adventure ride. 🎖️
