ROAD RACE — 100km & 45km
Ride the City. Ride the Coast. Ride the Legend.
This is the Tour Durban signature event — a rolling tour of the city's best-known streets and best-kept secrets, built for riders who want the full Durban experience in one unforgettable day on the bike.
The route starts at Moses Mabhida Stadium, threading out through Durban Centre and along the working waterfront of Durban Harbour, before picking up the M4 South down to Clairwood. From there the road turns inland through Queensburgh, where the roads begin to climb into Pinetown and New Germany — the tour's heartland leg, testing legs and lungs before the road tips back toward the coast. From there it's a fast, flowing run through Springfield and Riverside, before the ocean comes into view along Durban North, La Lucia, and Umhlanga Rocks — arguably the most photographed stretch of tarmac in KwaZulu-Natal. The final kilometres push north through Sibaya and Umdloti, where sugarcane meets the sea and the pace lifts for the run to the finish.
100km — The full Tour Durban experience. Suburbs, hills, coastline, cane. This is the ride you'll be telling stories about long after the medal's on the wall.
45km — All the flavour of the full route in a shorter, sharper package. Perfect for riders chasing a fast time or their first big-distance finish.

Where Singletrack Meets the Sugar Cane.
North of the city, the landscape changes completely — rolling cane fields, red dirt, and technical singletrack carved through some of the most scenic mountain biking terrain on the KZN coast. The MTB course is a loop route through Cornubia, Umdloti, Mount Moreland, Verulam, and Waterloo before turning back for home — a course that captures the full character of the north coast in one ride.
It's terrain shaped by the working rhythm of the sugar cane industry as much as by nature itself — singletrack winding between farm roads cutting through open fields, and pockets of untouched bush and wetland tucked in between. Riders climb through cane on one section and drop into shaded riverine trail on the next, with Mount Moreland's wetlands and the Umdloti river valley offering some of the most beautiful — and most interesting — riding on the route. It's this balance of agriculture and nature, working and wild landscape, that makes the MTB course unlike anything else on the KZN race calendar.
Four distances mean there's a race for every rider — from newcomers looking for their first taste of off-road racing to seasoned racers chasing a podium finish.
60km — The full challenge. Sustained climbing, fast descents, and long stretches of flowing singletrack for riders who came to race.
40km — A serious test of fitness and technical skill, with all the terrain variety of the long course in a tighter package.
20km — The sweet spot for club riders and weekend warriors wanting a proper MTB adventure without an all-day commitment.
10km — An accessible, fun introduction to trail riding — ideal for first-timers, juniors, and families riding together.
