Titanic Challenge Trail Run | 2026

The 2026 SPAR Titanic Challenge Trail Run takes place on Saturday, 5 September 2026, starting and finishing at Clarens Town Square in Clarens, Free State. 🏃‍♂️⛰️

Hosted by the Clarens Village Conservancy, this one-day mountain trail running event raises funds for the preservation of the Clarens Nature Reserve. The event offers runners and walkers the chance to experience the dramatic terrain, mountain views, private farm trails, and natural beauty of the Clarens area. 🌿

Participants can choose from 50km, 35km, 21km, 10km, and 5km Fun Run options. The longer 50km and 35km routes are designed for serious trail runners ready for tough terrain, while the 21km and 10km offer strong mountain running challenges. The 5km Fun Run is a shorter and more accessible option where everyone receives a medal. 🎖️

The 35km and 50km routes include access to private game and livestock farms, adding exclusive trail sections that are not normally open to the public. With challenging terrain, compulsory kit for longer distances, cut-off times, prize money, conservation support, and a true mountain-running atmosphere, the SPAR Titanic Challenge Trail Run is a standout Free State trail event. 🔥

• All races start and finish at Clarens Town Square
• 50km runners must register on Friday and attend the compulsory 18h00 race briefing
• Online entries close on 26 August 2026, or earlier if sold out
• Race fee includes a conservation fee and access permit for Clarens Nature Reserve
• Race shirts and apparel are not included but may be purchased separately
• No dogs allowed
• Walking is permitted, but 35km and 50km are recommended for serious runners only
• Late entries may be accepted if entries are still available
• 50km late entries are not available on race morning
