The Three Peaks Challenge is a renowned Cape Town event blending mountain and city running in a thrilling 50 km race.The feat was first completed in 1897, by Carl Schneeberger and 100 later Don Hartley completed the inaugural Three Peaks Challenge.Participants begin in the city and tackle Devil’s Peak, Table Mountain (via Platteklip Gorge to Maclear’s Beacon), and Lion’s Head, returning to the starting point after each peak. Held annually on the first Saturday of November, this challenging race is limited to 180 participants, with a 14-hour overall cut-off. No prior qualification is required.
Since it's inauguration in 1977, the event has added a shorter, easiest distance, and a relay team option for those who aren't ready for the full challenge, yet.
