The Coastal Hire Battlefields Marathon returns, offering runners an iconic road-running experience in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal. Hosted from Huttenpark Primary School, this well-established event is officially approved as a Comrades Marathon 2026 qualifier, making it a key race on the South African distance-running calendar
Athletes can choose between 42.2km (marathon), 21.1km (half marathon), or 10km, with all distances starting at 06h00. The marathon carries a Comrades qualifying time of 4 hours 59 minutes, while generous cut-off times ensure a welcoming race for both competitive and recreational runners
The route is fully supported with nine refreshment stations, supplying water and Coke along the way. No personal seconding is permitted, ensuring fair and safe race conditions for all participants. A tog-bag facility will be available at the venue on race day, and medals are awarded to all finishers across all distances
