Spring Day Festival fun run | 2026

The Bracken Nature Reserve Spring Day Festival is hosted by Friends of Bracken Nature Reserve, in partnership with the City of Cape Town and supported by Duprelen Accountants and Pam Golding Properties Brackenfell. This vibrant community event celebrates the arrival of spring with a mix of outdoor activities, fun runs, flower walks, live entertainment, and food stalls making it the perfect family outing. The highlight of the festival is the 5km Fun Run, starting at 08:30, open to both runners and walkers. Affordable entry fees make it accessible to all R40 for adults and R20 for kids under 13, with refreshments and medals for all participants. Nature lovers can also join one of two free Flower Walks (09:45–10:30 and 10:45–11:30), guided tours showcasing the diverse flora and fauna of the reserve, limited to 20 participants per walk. Adding a historical twist, the Cannon Firing Ceremony kicks off at 11:45, with a demonstration of VOC-era signal cannons before a spectacular cannon firing at 12:00. With picnic spots, music, food vendors, and plenty of spring-themed fun including the chance to fire a cannon if you wear the best spring outfit this event offers something for everyone.
