PrisonBreak Triathlon | 2026

The FLUIDLINES PrisonBreak Triathlon 2026 takes place on Saturday, 10 October 2026 at Brandvlei Maximum Security Prison, located just outside Worcester in the Western Cape.

Now in its 4th year, this CTTA/TSA-sanctioned triathlon offers athletes a unique race experience surrounded by mountains, open water, and the unforgettable setting of Brandvlei. Known for its “escape” theme, the event brings together endurance, grit, teamwork, and a strong race-day atmosphere.

Participants can choose from several exciting race options, including the Mini Escape, Maxi Escape, Aqua Bike Maxi, and Gang Version team categories. The bike route is on tar road and is suitable for road bikes, TT bikes, and mountain bikes. This is a non-drafting event, and TT bikes are allowed.

The Mini Escape is ideal for athletes looking for a challenging but manageable sprint-distance triathlon, while the Maxi Escape offers a longer standard-distance test for those wanting to push their limits. The Gang Version allows teams to take on either the Mini or Maxi Escape together, while the Aqua Bike option is perfect for athletes focusing on the swim and bike disciplines.

All participants, known as “escapees”, will receive a goody bag, swim cap, and PrisonBreak T-shirt, with medals awarded to all finishers. The event also features a prize pool valued at R32,000, with prizes across multiple age categories.

• Mini Escape: 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run – R1000
• Maxi Escape: 1500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run – R1200
• Mini Gang Version: Team entry – R1420
• Maxi Gang Version: Team entry – R1680
• Aqua Bike Maxi: 1500m swim, 40km bike – R1155

Age Requirements

• Mini Escape: Minimum age 16 by 31 December 2026
• Maxi Escape: Minimum age 18 by 31 December 2026
• Mini Gang: Youngest member must be 15 by 31 December 2026; other members must be 16 or older
• Maxi Gang: Youngest member must be 17 by 31 December 2026; other members must be 18 or older
