The Subaru Amohela MTB Challenge 2026 takes place from 22–24 May 2026 at Clarens Golf & Trout Estate in Clarens, Free State. Set against the dramatic sandstone cliffs, private reserves, and mountain landscapes of the Eastern Free State, this scenic MTB event offers riders a memorable weekend of flowing singletrack, open-country riding, and classic Clarens hospitality.
Riders can choose between two-day stage race options or a Saturday one-day challenge, with routes designed for different fitness and skill levels. The Thaba e Kholo option delivers the bigger mountain challenge, while Thaba e Nyenyane offers a shorter, more accessible adventure through the same spectacular region.
Route Options
- Thaba e Kholo 2-Day Challenge: Day 1 — 59km / 980m ascent; Day 2 — 52km / 1080m ascent
- Thaba e Nyenyane 2-Day Adventure: Day 1 — 49km / 650m ascent; Day 2 — 41km / 580m ascent
- One-Day Challenge: Saturday, 23 May only, with 59km or 49km options
- Subaru Sunset Outride: Friday warm-up ride before race weekend
