The Giants Cup Trail Run | 2027

The Giant’s Cup Trail Run 2026 takes place from Thursday, 21 May to Sunday, 24 May 2026 in the Southern Drakensberg, KwaZulu-Natal, set within the spectacular Maloti-Drakensberg World Heritage Site. The race begins on Thursday, 21 May at 08:30.

This boutique trail running event follows the famous Giant’s Cup Hiking Trail, offering runners and hikers a rare opportunity to experience one of South Africa’s most iconic mountain routes in a supported stage-race format. Participants can choose between the Full Trail Run of approximately 30km + 32km or the Lite Trail Run of approximately 15km + 12km, making the event suitable for both experienced trail runners and those wanting a shorter mountain adventure.

Set against dramatic Drakensberg scenery, the route features mountain ridges, river valleys, steep climbs, flowing descents, and breathtaking wilderness views. With limited entries, overnight stays, meals, and a strong community atmosphere, the Giant’s Cup Trail Run delivers a premium trail experience built around endurance, scenery, and camaraderie.
