About Karkloof 100
22nd Sep 23 - Howick
Based in the magnificent Karkloof valley outside of Howick, KZN, South Africa. The Karkloof 100 caters for all levels of trail runners with a variety of distances, formats and terrain. The event is presented by KZN Trail Running, and our mission is to deliver world-class trail races in one of South Africa’s most pristine environments, while uplifting and involving the local community.
In it’s 7th year of running the Karkloof 100 Miler Race has seen just over 300 finishers and now is the Premier Event of the Karkloof 100 race weekend. Inspired by the Leadville 100, the Karkloof 100 was idealised and brought to the trails with Jack Davis and Andrew Booth leading the helm. Year after year, the event has gone from strength to strength and has brought many trail runners, both locally and internationally, together.
The event now calls the befitting Karkloof Country Club home as it uses the characteristic venue for its base of operations for the duration of the event.
The 2023 edition will follow the same route as 2022, similar to it’s original out-and-back claim to fame! For those seeking to get an idea of what the Karkloof 100 would entail, this would be the perfect excuse to get out on trails and get first hand experience as well as to garner the opportunity to ask questions and meet your fellow runners.
Each finisher of the Karkloof 100 recieves, holding true to the races inspiration, a stylised Karkloof 100 Race buckle as well as an opportunity to get their name inscribed on the peoples trophy.
