About Dragonfly Full Moon Hike
4th Feb 23 - Cape Town
Don't miss out on this stunning sunset hike. 4km to the breathtaking viewing deck on Capaia hill with gorgeous views of the West Coast, and 4km back down traversing through the epic trails!
The hike includes a bit of climbing (so you can get the best view) so bring comfortable shoes, trail snacks and a water bottle.
We will be heading back down in the dark so bring a warm jacket and headlamp or torch.
There will be cheese platters and wine tasting on sale at Mariella's Restaurant when you finish. Wine tasting at R50 pp which includes a free glass to take home.
Hike start time:
- strictly 18:00
- no latecomers will be allowed to hike alone
Camping
There is camping available under the stars after the hike for R200 including dinner and breakfast.
Bring your own tent. There will be no electricity points other than the option to charge phones at the restaurant.
You are not allowed to bring your own food. It is fire season so no open fires and gas stoves allowed. We included the dinner and breakfast so you don't have to make your own.
Registration:
- from 17:00 (at Capaia)
Directions from Cape Town:
Travelling on the N7 from Cape Town, head north on the N7 towards Malmesbury. Turn left at Exit 31 (Melkbosstrand). At the junction, immediately turn righ and pass underneath the N7 bridge. Continue straight until you reach a T-junction. Turn left onto the Botterberg gravel road.
Directions from Stellenbosch:
Take the R304 towards Klipheuwel / Malmesbury. Turn left for Klipheuwel. Turn right (still on the R304) just after Klipheuwel. Continue on this road towards Philadelphia. You will go over a single-lane bridge, up a little hill and just over the hill, turn left onto the Old Malmesbury Road. Follow this road until you turn right onto the Botterberg gravel road.
Important:
Bring closed comfortable shoes, a waterbottle, headlamp / torch & a warm jacket as it gets cold after dark.
Please note that you will need to keep all your trash with you - NO littering. NO smoking or fires are allowed on the mountain as it is a high wildfire risk.
Refund Policy
No refunds.
We look forward to seeing you there!
